This sauce is bottled love.
Looking at the bottle, the graphic on the label kinda has a western feel with a picture of a flaming cactus with the sun coming over the canyons in the background. They used this same graphic for every sauce in the Wicked Cactus Sauce line. Only thing is different is the name of the sauce and of course, the sauce. It’s a simple, but well executed label that will get your attention.
When I first laid my eyes on this sauce, I was pleasantly surprised to see bits of ingredients floating around in the sauce. It has a orangeish red tint with pieces of garlic, onions, and spices floating around. I also saw some pepper seeds. The sauce’s appearance alone made me very eager to open the bottle and use it on whatever I could find. Visually, a very appetizing sauce.
Upon tasting the sauce, the strong taste of tomatoes, onion, and garlic instantly was noticed. A second later, a very slight hint of vinegar made it’s way into the mix. The habaneros really don’t come out flavorwise in this sauce. But, some of the heat is noticed. This sauce is wickedly addictive. I could not put this bottle down. I tried it on carnitas, burgers, fries, chicken, enchiladas and just straight up on chips. I was looking for things to put this sauce on. I honestly would recommend this sauce to be tried on anything.
Heat wise, not a scorcher. But, the heat is noticed. I might have added a little bit more habs into the mix. But, even though it lacked heat, it made that up in the flavor department.
Overall, I highly recommend this sauce. I only have two suggestions. I would like to see more heat to it and I think either the consistency of the sauce needs to be thicker or a restrictor cap needs to be used. I found myself, along with others, pouring too much out at times. But, even if these two things weren’t changed about the sauce, I would still buy it and suggest it to others.
